Brings the whole saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” into context. Sign languages could be seen as similar to animated 3D pictures, a wealth of information can all be expressed simultaneously. Visual information is often a lot more powerful than both the written and spoken word. Amazing we hearing folks bother to talk at all really ;-)

Having said that it’s just occurred to me that spoken languages such as English are more than just linear. The speed and pitch of a voice does add a couple of extra dimensions to the information being provided, although nothing like as much as a visual/signed language.
